Where is SmartMoves Studio located?

470 New Canterbury Road, Dulwich Hill. Directly across the road from our main clinic at Shop 1 529 - 539 New Canterbury Road.

What happens at the Studio?

SmartMoves Physiotherapist - led group exercise and Reformer Pilates classes

What do the classes involve?

A combination of Reformer Pilates, mat exercise, weights, resistance bands, balance equipment, foam rollers, Pilates Rings and balls, and more.

Why should I do the classes?

Many reasons. To name a few. Strengthen,lengthen and tone muscles. Improve core strength, stability and balance. Prevent injury and reduce aches and pains. Manage arthritis and other conditions. Promote a healthy, active lifestyle in a fun and friendly environment. Return to exercise following injury, illness or pregancy. Exercise while pregnant. Improve athletic ability and physical performance. Meet new people and join our growing community.

When are the classes?

We currentyl have 30 classes during the week at a range of times to suit yuo. scroll down to the timetable at the very bottom of the page.

Who runs the classes?

Our team of experienced physios. Each of us follow a similar structure but have different methods to keep things interesting. Each physio will have a set weekly routine unless away in which we will need to alter it.

How many people in each group?

We have a maximum of 5 in each group. We find this enables us to monitor and tailor exercise to suit your needs.

Do I need to do an assessment before I start?

No. But it is strongly encouraged. We find it beneficial for both you and our physios to have a good understanding of yuur current and previous history of injury/illness as well as assess the level that you are at so that you are safe and get more out of the classes.

Do I need to book?

Yes. We have a 5 person limit and it is important our staff know you are coming.

How do I book?

If you have a set time(s) that you would like each week, let our staff know and we can make a regular booking for you. If you would not like a set time but wanted to come when available, you can use our online booking system to book as you go

How much are sessions?

1 session = $30 5 sessions = $120 10 sessions = $200 20 sessions = $350

How do I pay for sessions?

Through our website Online Store (seperate to Booking system)or at the Studio or our main clinic.

Can I book without having payed?

Yes. Our booking system is seperate to payments so it can be organised at the completion of your class.

Can I use my private health insurance?

Yes but only if the classes are used to treat a specific condition and if you have had an initial assessment with us. Our classes are designed to help all types of musculoskeletal conditions. All health funds have different requirements so we ask that you take responsibilty for understanding what these are.

Can make health fund claims after each session?

No. We will send you an invoice at the completion of your pack to submit for claiming with your health fund.

Is there an expiry on 5 or 10 packs?

No. We understand that things come up. The sessions will be there for you when you're ready.

What do I need to bring?

We ask that you bring your own towel. Although we have them on hand if you forget. We have all required mats and equipment. We have a water cooler and cups but if you prefer a drink bottle that is fine.

Do you have a toilet and changerooms?

Yes we have bathroom facilties. If possible it is best to arrive ready to go as the changeroom may not always be available. If arriving early you can use the facilities at our main clinic across the road.

Can anyone do a class?

Our classes are designed to cater for as many people as we can and exercises can be modified to suit each individual. At the same time, your safety is of our utmost concern. We require participants to be medically fit for this type of exercise. If in doubt, ask us and we can come up with a plan that may involve GP clearance.

I have arthritis, am I okay to do a class?

Absolutely. Movement has shown to be one of the most important management strategies for arthritis. We would strongly recommend an initial assessment with one of our physios though.

I don't feel ready for a class, what should I do?

We offer individual exercise sessions out of our main clinis across the road. Our physios can work with you until you're ready. If not, you can keep doing individual sessions as long as you like.
